Cochin Obstetric and Gynecological Society is the discovery of the new millennium. This prestigious society was founded by Dr Gracy Thomas with only 12 members on 1st April 2000. Today this society boasts a membership number of around 230 obstetricians and gynecologists from in and around Ernakulam district. All 12 founding members formed the then managing council with Dr Zareena Khalid as Secretary and Dr Lissamma Joseph as Treasurer. The first Annual CME was held in 2001 which was attended by more than 120 delegates and it was a grand success. After 3 years of formation of COGS, FOGSI membership was taken. COGS was awarded the BEST SOCIETY AWARD from FOGSI in the first year of the membership itself.

COGS has always upheld the social commitment to the society by conducting various medical camps at old age homes and sponsoring medical equipments to palliative care centers. We have been working very closely with the palliative care society Kochi and doing meaningful work from the grassroot level itself since many years. Our members are very active in organizing adolescent health education classes in schools and colleges. Cochin obstetric and gynecological society has consistently attracted an illustrious lineup of national and international speakers, featuring pioneers in laparoscopy, gynecologic oncology, robotic surgery and reproductive medicine reflecting its commitment to excellence and innovation.

Cochin Society has organized many National and state conferences namely AICOG in 2006, AKCOG in 2016 and 2026, YUVA FOGSI, NATIONAL ISAR, YUVA ISAR, GESTICON etc. Cochin society also conducts regular monthly CME to further update and upgrade our knowledge and to train new generation obstetricians and gynecologists. Cochin Society has bagged many society and individual awards over the years FOGSI Best Society Award 2009 and 2011, KFOG Best Society Award 2010, 2011 and 2023, Duru Shah award 2008and 2011, Dr DK Tank award 2009 and 2010, Nimesh Shelat Research Award 2025, Best paper award 2025 and many more accolades.
