Kottayam Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society(KOGS) was established in 1976 as the third society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Kerala after Trivandrum and Calicut. Kottayam is an active, Class A Society with close to 170 members. Kottayam OG society caters to OBG specialists from Kottayam district and some parts of Alappuzha and Idukki districts.

The founder president was Dr Subhadra Nair, the first secretary was Dr Rajan R and the first treasurer Dr Annamma V K. Over the years, many stalwarts of Kottayam went on to lead our state forum KFOG.

Kottayam society hosted the AKCOG meetings of 1983, 1988,1993,1998,2004, 2012 and 2020. Kottayam is also scheduled to host the flagship conferences of KFOG, GESTICON in 2026 and AKCOG in 2028.

Kottayam society has produced the one and only FOGSI president from Kerala, our eminent prof Dr R Rajan. Our eminent member, Dr C P Vijayan was the controller of examinations and is now the Pro VC of Kerala University of Health Science.
