The Alappuzha O&G society was born as the Madhya Kerala obstetrics and gynaecology society in1983, with the founder President as Dr R.Rajan,oneof the patriarchal figures in the family of Obstetrics and gynecologists in Kerala. The founder secretary was Dr. Ajitha Kumari.

Under the eminent leadership of Dr Rajan,the society conducted high quality CMEs regularly.

Later the society was renamed as Alleppey Obstetrics and gynecology society. Our society caters a vast area which extends from Cherthala in the north to Kayamkulam in the South along the seatbelt,and eastward across the kuttanad belt till Thiruvalla and Chengannur.

Our society was lucky to be led by sincere leaders like Dr. Lalithambika.K,Dr. Sathiamma,Dr. Rachel Alexander,Dr.Gigi.A,and Dr.Thanku Thomas Koshy. We have proudly conducted the All kerala obstetrics and gynaecology conferences (AKCOG) excellently in 2007,2014and 2024.All the conferences were organised and conducted in an exemplary manner , reflecting exceptional team work and camaraderie.

The society conducts monthly CME sand annual CME s, which are platforms that promote academic and clinical excellence both for senior and junior members.Eminent faculty members are invited from other societies and states along with KFOG.The society has always been a helping hand for a member who is facing medicolegal problem or other professional difficulties.

The society was re registered in 2024 as Alappuzha obstetrics and gynaecology society.Our society ensures active participation of our members in all the national and state level conferences including AICOG ,AKCOG,&GESTICON. Our members Dr.Lalithambika K.and Thanku Thomas Koshy had authored chapters inthe KFOG endeavour REALM.

Our society played a major part in making the anti-cancer drive of our government,Arogyam Anandam,a big success in our district.Special Pap’s smear camps were conducted in the coastal areas for fisher women. PPMD programmes are conducted regularly with good attendance.Last year we conducted a conclave on Medical disorders in November which was a big success.We honoured our KFOG leaders and senior members of our society in the KFOG touch programme in 2023 and MILAN programme in 2025.

Now the society is led by:

Dr.Lalithambika.K as president,
Dr.Deepthi.P.S as secretary
Dr.Rachel Alexander as treasurer.

Together with KFOG all the members of Alappuzha O G society are striving towards one goal Safe Womanhood.
