Aims & Objectives of the Federation

About KFOG

Members of the Federation

  • The Federation includes all the Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies in Kerala affiliated to the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India and the clubs and other academic bodies like clubs in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology functioning in cities and towns of Kerala. They will be designated as member bodies. Any society or club desiring membership should apply to the Secretary of KFOG who will present such application to the Managing council after scrutinizing the memorandum of association of the applicant. Only after the Managing council and the general body approve the membership becomes effective.
  • In case a town or city has both – an affiliated gynaecological society and a club and if there is any dispute regarding membership, the society will have precedence over the club to be a member body in the Federation and for the conduct of AKCOG.
  • A member body should have at least twenty members to be eligible for recognition and registration as a member body in the Federation.
  • The minimum academic qualification for a member shall be the degree of MBBS or an equivalent degree recognized by the Indian Medical Council, and he/she should have special interest in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • An individual can be represented in the Federation only through one member body like Society or club, even if he /she has membership of a club and a society.

Managing Council of the federation consists of:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • Five immediate Past Presidents
  • President Elect for the Following Year
  • Secretary General
  • Joint–Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Editor Journal
  • President and Secretary of each member bodies
  • Chairmen of the various special committees of the KFOG

Committees

Special committees to focus attention on various activities of the KFOG have been constituted. The Chairman of all committees is a member of the Managing Council. The term of office of the committees of KFOG is 3 years unless otherwise decided by the Managing Council.

Role of Managing council and office bearers

The Managing Council directs and regulates the general affairs of the Federation and shall, subject to the control of the General Body. The council has powers to frame rules and bye-laws for the conduct of the business at meetings of the Federation, and for direction of the publication, if any.

The council has the powers.

  • To appoint Committees and Sub-Committees
  • To represent any matter in which they consider the interests of the Federation, of the Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or the Medical Profession are affected, before the Government and public bodies or any properly constituted authority.
  • The Managing Council considers the reports of the various committees and sub committees and submits the same to the General Body with their recommendations.
  • The Managing Council prepares the Annual Report and Balance Sheet and statement of accounts to be presented to the General Body at the Ordinary General Body meeting.
  • To manage the funds of the Federation in accordance with the general policy laid down by the General Body.
